Staying true to my alma mater, KU, I have had two very Jayhawk experiences on my trip thus far: 1) Brandon’s wedding cake 2) A trip to Allen Fieldhouse to see my Jayhawks play and beat the Cal Golden Bears!

Since Christy pointed out to me that I managed to publish my entire post about Brandon’s wedding without any pictures of the happy couple, I figured I’d better pull it together and get some photos up.

Unfortunately, I only had my point and shoot with me that night and didn’t get any great photos, but here are some of the better ones:

One of the most tender moments of this trip has been waching my wonderful husband interact with my grandpa.

Grandpa has been hard at work trying to track down some Widmer beer here in KC. (Widmer is the company that Aaron works for in Portland) So far, Grandpa has not has success in his venture.

Like any good beer man, however, Aaron was prepared to meet the needs of all his beer-hungry KC friends and family by loading the car with different varities of Widmer. Upon hearing Grandpa’s frustration with not being able to find Widmer in KC, Aaron promptly went to the car and returned with three different Widmer varities for Grandpa to try.

He and Aaron split a Drop Top, which delighted Grandpa! Cheers, Grandpa!

Widmer, you’ve got a new life-long fan in Grandpa!

So, Brandon’s wedding is over and done with and that ecstatic and bubbly little guy from Christmas’ past is now a strong, responsible man and husband! It almost seems impossible yet I saw it with my own two eyes so I know it’s true! Aaron’s parents, Jim & Mitzi flew in for the occassion so we were thick in family and had a great time!

Saturday was a cold day in KC but we were all rushing around so much getting ready that I think we hardly noticed. The ceremony went off without a hitch and we sent Brandon & Natalie off into their newlywed-eddom in a line of teeny candlights.

The reception, held at Union Station, was beautiful indeed. Not only did the bride and groom offer up a delicious wedding cake and a Jayhawk groom’s cake but also a candy table and 24 different cheesecake choices. It was a sugar lover’s dream come true.

We finally left about 11:00 pm so we could safely escort Grandma Jan home. All in all,the wedding was quite fun.

Last night, Kim and I helped Brandon and Nat open their mound of gifts which proved hilarious at times (lots of random contributions to their new life together) but quite helpful to the new couple who will be moving in together this week (ish). Congratulations, Natalie & Brandon!

One hour and some change into our road trip, we’re making good time and have very driveable conditions.

Newman is exhausted from his morning at daycare and is peacefully resting.

We’re rocking our new fave album from Band of Skulls.

So far, so good!

This year, Aaron and I spent Thanksgiving with a few of our favorite Portlanites: Ginny & Jeremy, Kim & Brian and Stewart. To keep in tradition with last year, everyone came over and crammed into our tiny place. We figured that small  might be bad in some situations but this wasn’t going to be a formal dinner party in any way… more like a formal eat your face off fest, so size really didn’t matter in this situation. We had everything we needed: a kitchen to cook in, cooks, places to sit and a tv on which to watch stupid football all day (clearly not my choice).

By the time everyone left we were miserably stuffed full of food and really just wanted to go to sleep… and we might have done that shortly thereafter.

Guess who turned 30 and had to get glasses for strain shortly thereafter? This lady did.

Glasses just came in today….So far, so good. Though, I haven’t worn them for any purpose yet except modeling.

This is the child I want to bear when I grow up; she’s so cute I can almost hardly stand it.
